Building Safe Futures: Turning Awareness into Action

Domestic Violence and Intimate Partner Violence (DV/IPV) affect millions of lives every year. Yet, for too many, the signs go unnoticed, the myths remain unchallenged, and the cycle continues.

The Building Safe Futures program is designed to change that.

For me, this mission is deeply personal. My journey, shaped by a devastating automobile accident, the emotional strain of divorce, and a system that often failed to protect fairness and safety, taught me the power of resilience and the need for change. 

Too many parents, partners, and professionals are silently struggling. Some hide behind dedication at work, arriving early and staying late, when in reality they may be signaling a silent cry for help.

The Building Safe Futures program addresses this reality head-on. Over four weeks, participants learn to:

• Recognize the signs of DV/IPV in homes, workplaces, and communities.
• Understand abusive patterns and the myths that keep people trapped.
• Build personal and professional resilience through practical tools, healthy boundaries, assertive communication, and stress management techniques.
• Create sustainable support networks that foster long-term safety and community accountability.

I am honored to serve in this program because DV/IPV is not just a women’s issue, men are impacted also. It is not a private matter to be ignored. It is a human issue. By working together, men and women, leaders and neighbors, we can stop the cycle of violence.

The power of Building Safe Futures lies in its action-oriented approach. Through real conversations, role-play, and interactive learning, we equip individuals, organizations, and communities to turn awareness into action.
